New Alliance Guides Employees Through Leave Policies While Reducing Employers’ Absence Costs

TORRANCE, Calif. & ATLANTA — Innovative Care Systems (ICS), a third-party administrator of leave of absence and group disability claims, today announced that it has engaged Crawford & Company to round out its offering of claims and medical management services for workers’ compensation, short-term disability, long-term disability and leave of absence programs.

ICS helps employees navigate complex FMLA and employer leave policies, guiding them through all aspects of their health and benefits while they are away from work. Combined with Crawford’s breadth of experience in case management, ICS and Crawford will help organizations eliminate unnecessary costs and administrative delays that result when disability benefits and absence management are not coordinated.

“Absence costs are expected to continue to rise over the next year, placing additional burdens on overstretched human resource and benefits departments,” said Debby Kweller, Chief Executive Officer, ICS. “ICS and Crawford have formed this relationship to improve management of disability benefits and employee absences, which will reduce the excessive costs that often result when an employee takes a leave of absence.”

As part of the agreement, Crawford will provide clinical review support for ICS’ concierge absence management services, giving ICS access to Crawford’s worldwide clinical and vocational network and productivity tools including e-Triage and Crawford Works. ICS will provide Crawford with its full set of leave management services.

“The synergy created through our joint offering provides human resources departments with the tools to handle the increasing complexity of leave programs,” said Terry Turon, vice president of business development, Crawford Absence & Care Management. “These services also support the improvement of individual and corporate health at a time of increased pressure to create sustainable value.”

Ultimately, the new alliance will improve employee productivity, help employees take full advantage of their health care benefits, address difficult leave issues, and return absent employees to work as quickly as possible, a benefit to both employees and employers.

“When an employee must take a leave, he or she may not understand the treatment plan, what the health plan offers or how to maneuver through the health care process,” added Kweller. “The employee may consult the internet, a friend or even self-refer. The addition of Crawford’s clinical expertise will support the employee through the process of both health and care.”

Therefore, to make money on your auction, it is important to set your auction apart and avoid common eBay auction mistakes. Here are 3 important mistakes that you must take note of:

1. Wrong product category or product category not specific enough. As it is relatively simple and inexpensive to auction an item, many sellers simply do not put in enough effort researching the market. The result is the auctions are put up in the wrong category. This would be tantamount to pitching your deal to the wrong market.

However, if you are marketing your product in traditional channels and paying money for your promotions, you are likely to do a lot more research and legwork. If you want to earn a serious income, then you should not treat your eBay auctions any differently.

To research, find the best eBay category to put your product auction in. If you are selling coins, eBay shoppers do not have the time to search all 38,000 plus auctions put up under the category of coins.

The first thing the reader must see after your personal info is the position you are looking for. This shows a potential employer that you are clear about your career goals and know exactly what you want in the job world.

My second tip is — Write using powerful action words. This is one of the best ways to get an employer’s interest. So instead of saying you were ‘ responsible for’ write that you ‘directed’ or ‘managed’a project.Words have energy and your reader must feel that you were active and energetic through your written description.

Third Tip–Use bullets effectively. Bullets catch the reader’s eye, break up text into manageable bits, make more white space and enhances the visual appeal of your resume.

Give your garden furniture a facelift; Inject some individuality into your garden – and save some money – by mixing, matching, repainting and recycling last year’s tatty old tables and chairs

0 Comments | Daily Mail (London, England), The, June 19, 2010

Byline: Tim Richardson

The weather forecasters have been promising a hot summer but, even if they’re proved wrong again, that won’t stop most of us getting out into the garden to enjoy whatever good weather we may be blessed with. If your patio furniture is looking a little worn and weary, now is the time to think about new dining tables, chairs, loungers and benches.

The starting point is to look at the existing furniture. If it has started to fall apart at the joints, or even rot, it may be time to get rid of it – repairs may not last long in an outdoor environment. Tired old garden furniture that is still structurally sound can be rejuvenated with a lick of outdoor paint (such as the Cuprinol Garden Shades range, available from Homebase and many other outlets). Such an expedient could make all the difference for little outlay, especially if, for example, only the dining table really needs replacing. Painting some old chairs and also a modestly priced new table to go with them might save upwards of [pounds sterling]1,000.

When it comes to buying new pieces of furniture, it does not always pay to think only in terms of ready-made ‘sets’, though there are some excellent choices out there (for a good idea of the general range, see www.ingarden.co.uk, www.outer-eden.co.uk or www.moderngarden.co.uk). It can be just as effective to pick standout items for specific areas of the garden and make them focal points.

The key to choosing and siting garden furniture is scale. It is always worth acquiring a large dining table if the garden is to be used as an outdoor room in summer, but there is no point kidding yourself about the size of your patio or terrace. If diners feel cramped, they will not be able to relax

Lyle wins at lucky peg 13

Lyle wins at lucky peg 13

0 Comments | Lincolnshire Echo, Jun 5, 2010

JK Bank Holiday Open TWELVE anglers turned out to fish this event and while the weights were not massive, all but one angler recorded a weight of over 20lbs on the day.

The venue for this match was Thimbleby Lake Three and the winner was Lyle McCreishan from peg 13. He fished meat on the pole and ended the session with a straight 36lbs.

John Bradley kept up his recent good form by finishing in second place with 23lb 12oz. John also fished meat on the pole at peg two to take his catch. Third was Paul Mosley (right) at peg five with 23lb 4oz.

Moon Lake / Windmill Tackle Open Once again Moon Lake was the venue for this match and once again the strong gusting wind did not allow the anglers to fish the long pole.

The strong winds did not affect Mat Barker (Sleaford). Mat drew peg 12 which has won or framed in most of the recent matches at this complex. Mat fished the method feeder to the island with dead red maggot and proceeded to win the event with 91lb 8oz.

Bridesmaid on the day was Shaun Coaten (Holbeach) at peg four.

Shaun fished meat on the pole to take 74lb 6oz of carp and second place. Third was Mick Prince from peg 27.

Next week’s match is on Manor Lake and anyone wanting to fish should contact Paul Mosley at Windmill Tackle on (01507) 463505.

Lincoln Junior Section The Lincoln Juniors visited Bain Valley Fisheries near Tattershall on Saturday to fish a club match. Danny Martin easily took the honours with a weight of 35lb 2oz.

Danny fished the ground bait feeder with maggot to take mainly small carp from peg 32. Naden Foxley took the runners-up position. After starting on the waggler, Naden changed to the feeder and caught fish steadily to finish the session with 16lb 10oz.

Ten-year-old Rory McKindley started on the pole and managed to hook and land a 10lb 6oz common carp on just six elastic.

He finished the day with 16lb 2oz and third place. Oliver Butler finished in fourth spot with 12lb from peg 31 all caught on the feeder with maggot.

The organisers would like to thank the bailiff at this venue who donated three free days fishing for the top three anglers.

Ruskington AC Series Members of Ruskington AC visited Marsh Lake for a fixture. The wind was horrendous on the day and the long pole was impossible to fish due to the conditions. Peg one once again took the honours at this match and Shane Willcox (Dave’s Peg) was the fortunate angler that drew the peg.

Shane alternated between pellet and corn on the pole to finish with 83lb 8oz

Banks cut out from federal student loans:

0 Comments | Charleston Gazette, The, Mar 31, 2010 | by Philip Elliott

WASHINGTON – Finalizing two major pieces of his agenda, President Obama on Tuesday sealed his health-care overhaul and made the government the primary lender to students by cutting banks out of the process.

Both domestic priorities came in one bill, pushed through by Democrats in the House and Senate and signed into law by a beaming president.

The new law makes a series of changes to the massive health insurance reform bill that he signed into law with even greater fanfare last week. Those fixes included removing some special deals that had angered the public and providing more money for poorer and middle-income individuals and families to help them buy health insurance.

But during an appearance at a community college in suburban Virginia, he emphasized the overshadowed part of the bill: education.

In this final piece of health reform, Democrats added in a restructuring of the way the government handles loans affecting millions of students.

The law strips banks of their role as middlemen in federal student loans and puts the government in charge. The president said that change would save more than $60 billion over the next 10 years, which in turn would be used to boost Pell Grants for students and reinvest in community colleges.

“I didn’t stand with the banks and the financial industries in this fight – that’s not why I came to Washington – and neither did any of the members of Congress who are here today,” Obama said to a supportive crowd at Northern Virginia Community College. “We stood with you. We stood with America’s students.”

Private lenders still will make student loans that are not backed by the government, and they still will have contracts to service some federal loans. But the change reflected in the new law represents a significant loss in what has been a $70 billion business for the banking industry.

Among many other features, the new law is expected to make it easier for some college graduates to repay loans.

The government will essentially guarantee that workers in low- paying jobs will be able to reduce their payments

The first interview for a job is a basic indication that the company you are meeting with is interested in considering you as a potential new employee.

I’m sure this is a fairly basic and understood statement.

The important part is understanding the

purpose

of the first interview.

It really helps if you can find out ahead of time exactly who you’re meeting with during the first interview to get a sense as to what will actually take place during the interview.

The first interview might be a

screening interview

with a member of Human Resources (HR) to assess your suitability to join the company. This interview might only focus on HR-type questions that attempt to determine your career goals, your personality, why you have left one company for another, etc.

Or you might find that the HR interviewer is actually qualified to ask you questions about the specific job you’re being considered for. You might be surprised to find out that the HR interviewer knows more about your job or profession than you expected!

The first interview could combine an HR interview with a more hands-on interview with the hiring manager or it could skip the HR portion and go straight to a hands-on interview with the person who is doing the hiring.

The point is that ideally you will find out ahead of time exactly how the interview process is structured so that you can prepare for it and so that you can avoid any unexpected surprises.

The more information you have at your fingertips the better you can prepare yourself for all possible outcomes.

In any event, the goal of the first interview from your perspective is to answer all questions concisely and as well as possible, to gain more information about the company and the job and of course to proceed to the next step in the process if it’s a job you are still interested in.

If this is a one-interview process, remember that you only have one interview to state your case and also to ensure that this a job you really want and is a company you really want to work for.

Knowing the

interview plan

ahead of time will help you properly prepare for the job interview process and not just the

first

interview, especially if the first interview is the

only

interview.
